Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of metabolic process; regulation of intracellular signal transduction; and regulation of muscle contraction. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of Ras protein signal transduction. Located in several cellular components, including dendrite cytoplasm; perikaryon; and perinuclear region of cytoplasm. Is active in glutamatergic synapse and postsynaptic density. Used to study cataract and prostate adenocarcinoma. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in carcinoma (multiple); cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome 3; high grade glioma; and melorheostosis.
