Is active in dopaminergic synapse; postsynaptic membrane; and presynaptic membrane. Is expressed in central nervous system and retina. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in alcohol use disorder; cocaine abuse; and nicotine dependence. Orthologous to human CHRNA6 (cholinergic receptor nicotinic alpha 6 subunit).
