Iqschfp Gene Summary [Mouse]

This locus represents naturally occurring read-through transcription from the neighboring IQ motif containing J (Iqcj) and schwannomin interacting protein 1 (Schip1) genes. This locus produces a transcript that is composed of in-frame exons from each individual gene. The resulting fusion protein is thought to be a component of the multimolecular complexes of axon initial segments and nodes of Ranvier, and it may play a role in calcium-mediated responses. Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Iqschfp often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
