Il18r1 Gene Summary [Mouse]

Enables interleukin-18 receptor activity. Involved in negative regulation of cold-induced thermogenesis and positive regulation of non-canonical NF-kappaB signal transduction. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including T-helper 1 cell differentiation; interleukin-18-mediated signaling pathway; and positive regulation of type II interferon production. Predicted to be part of interleukin-18 receptor complex. Predicted to be active in cell surface and plasma membrane. Is expressed in aorta-gonad-mesonephros and thymus primordium. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in asthma. Orthologous to human IL18R1 (interleukin 18 receptor 1). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2025]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Il18r1 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
