Nme7 Gene Summary [Mouse]

Predicted to enable 3'-5' exonuclease activity and protein kinase activity. Involved in flagellated sperm motility. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cellular response to leukemia inhibitory factor; epithelial cilium movement involved in extracellular fluid movement; and intraciliary transport. Located in axonemal microtubule; centrosome; and ciliary basal body. Is active in axonemal A tubule inner sheath and sperm flagellum. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; genitourinary system; nervous system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Used to study hydrocephalus. Orthologous to human NME7 (NME/NM23 family member 7). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2025]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Nme7 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
