Nbr1 Gene Summary [Mouse]

Enables mitogen-activated protein kinase binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of osteoblast differentiation; regulation of bone mineralization; and regulation of stress-activated MAPK cascade. Located in late endosome; mitochondrial intermembrane space; and phagophore assembly site. Colocalizes with autophagosome. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; gut; hemolymphoid system; and liver and biliary system. Orthologous to human NBR1 (NBR1 autophagy cargo receptor). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Nbr1 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
