Ndst2 Gene Summary [Mouse]

Enables N-acetylglucosamine deacetylase activity; heparan sulfate N-deacetylase activity; and heparan sulfate N-sulfotransferase activity. Involved in heparan sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process. Acts upstream of or within mast cell mediated immunity and regulation of angiotensin levels in blood. Located in Golgi apparatus. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; exocrine system; genitourinary system; liver; and spleen. Orthologous to human NDST2 (N-deacetylase and N-sulfotransferase 2). Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Ndst2 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
