Cdk13 Gene Summary [Mouse]

Enables cyclin binding activity and protein kinase binding activity. Involved in alternative mRNA splicing, via spliceosome. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of stem cell differentiation. Part of nuclear cyclin-dependent protein kinase holoenzyme complex. Is expressed in several structures, including future brain; genitourinary system; heart; primitive streak; and unsegmented mesenchyme. Used to study congenital heart defects, dysmorphic facial features, and intellectual developmental disorder. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in congenital heart defects, dysmorphic facial features, and intellectual developmental disorder; hepatocellular carcinoma; intellectual disability; and prostate carcinoma. Orthologous to human CDK13 (cyclin dependent kinase 13). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Cdk13 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
