Sema6d Gene Summary [Mouse]

Enables receptor ligand activity and semaphorin receptor binding activity. Involved in T cell activation via T cell receptor contact with antigen bound to MHC molecule on antigen presenting cell and semaphorin-plexin signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; and ventricular system development. Located in collagen-containing extracellular matrix. Is expressed in several structures, including cardiovascular system; central nervous system; gut mesenchyme; retina; and spinal ganglion or nerve. Orthologous to human SEMA6D (semaphorin 6D). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2025]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Sema6d often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
