DNAJC1 Gene Summary [Human]

The membrane protein encoded by this gene is a DNAJ-like heat shock protein that binds the molecular chaperone BiP. In addition, the encoded protein contains two SANT domains that have been shown to bind serpin alpha1-antichymotrypsin and inter-alpha trypsin inhibitor heavy chain 4. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in human DNAJC1 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
