Cnga2 Gene Summary [Mouse]

This gene encodes a transmembrane protein that is the main subunit of the nucleotide-gated olfactory ion channel, which plays a key role in transducing chemosensory signal resulting from hydrogen sulphide exposure. Signaling pathways mediated by this gene operate in the cilia of type B cells. Knock out of this gene affects development of the olfactory epithelium and olfactory bulb. Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Cnga2 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
