Rnf31 Gene Summary [Mouse]

Enables ubiquitin protein ligase activity. Involved in CD40 signaling pathway; positive regulation of canonical NF-kappaB signal transduction; and protein polyubiquitination. Acts upstream of or within canonical NF-kappaB signal transduction; negative regulation of canonical NF-kappaB signal transduction; and negative regulation of necroptotic process. Located in cytoplasmic side of plasma membrane and cytosol. Part of CD40 receptor complex and LUBAC complex. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; genitourinary system; gut; hemolymphoid system gland; and sensory organ. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in immunodeficiency 115. Orthologous to human RNF31 (ring finger protein 31). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]

Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Rnf31 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
