Bub3 Gene Summary [Mouse]

This gene encodes a component of the mitotic spindle assembly complex. The encoded protein is involved in the regulation of chromosome segregation during oocyte meiosis. Disruption of this gene results in the accumulation of mitotic errors and is lethal in the embryonic stage. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Protein Domains

A protein domain is a distinct structural or functional region within a protein that can evolve, function, and exist independently of the rest of the protein chain. These domains in mouse Bub3 often fold into stable, three-dimensional structures and are associated with specific biological functions, such as binding to DNA, other proteins, or small molecules.
